New Chain and Sprockets for Me -- the Street Triple called, Bird


An air gun is the easiest way to get the nut off the front
sprocket. Jack will use a torque wrench to tighten 
the new one on. The transmission should be in 
neutral and the chain must be in place so you
can stop the sprocket and nut from spinning by
holding the rear wheel.


A little grinding on the rivets to remove the heads 
so they can be pushed out.


Then push them out with the chain tool.


Now the old chain is ready to come off.


One nut for the rear fender and another for the wheel.


This kit contains everything I need -- except for tools
and someone to work them.


The rear sprocket seems to wear more than the other
parts. Jack changes the drive chain and sprockets
every 20,000 miles. This is replacement number
two for me as I just crossed 40,000 miles.


Use a torque wrench on all nuts.


The same tool used to push the old master link pins out
is used to peen the new master link pins in.


All done.
